In the early hours of Tuesday, June 25, 2024, a tragic accident occurred on the Accra-Kumasi highway, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries.
The collision involved a VIP bus with registration number GT 5287-11 and an articulated truck registered GR 1276-W.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened when the VIP bus attempted to overtake a parked vehicle, causing it to veer off its lane and collide with the truck.
The impact caused both vehicles to overturn, creating a catastrophic scene.
A female passenger on the VIP bus lost her life in the collision. Many other passengers suffered various injuries and required immediate medical attention.
Emergency response teams from the Ghana Ambulance Service, the Bunso Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), and the Ghana Police Service quickly arrived on the scene to provide assistance.
The injured were swiftly transported to Kibi and Suhum government hospitals for treatment, while the deceased was taken to the Suhum Government Hospital Morgue.
