England has announced its squad numbers for the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament, setting the stage for their campaign in Germany this summer.
Despite a recent setback with a loss to Iceland, anticipation is building as the FA revealed the squad’s numbers on Saturday morning.
The allocation of numbers to key players follows familiar patterns, with Harry Kane retaining the number nine jersey as team captain.
Jude Bellingham will sport the number ten, while Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden will wear seven and 11, respectively, reflecting their standout performances at club level.
Cole Palmer, their positional rival, has been assigned number 24.
Manager Gareth Southgate’s tactical decisions are also evident in the squad numbers.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, often used as a midfielder recently, will wear the number eight, indicating his expected role in Euro 2024.
In the absence of Harry Maguire, Marc Guehi steps in with the number six-shirt.
Rounding off the squad, young midfielders Adam Wharton and Kobbie Mainoo claim the final numbers, 25 and 26, respectively.
England begin their Euro 2024 group stage campaign against Serbia on June 16, before taking on Denmark on June 20 and then Slovenia on June 25.
