Erik ten Hag faces backlash for his post-match comments following Manchester United’s defeat to Bayern Munich.
In their final Group A match of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, United suffered a 1-0 loss to the Bundesliga giants, with Kingsley Coman scoring the only goal.
Despite needing a win to have any chance of qualifying for the last 16, United managed only one victory in their last five group matches.
In the aftermath of the Bayern defeat, ten Hag claimed his team had put on a good performance, eliciting anger and disbelief from some Manchester United fans.
“We didn’t lose it today. We had some good performances, but we made some mistakes—individual errors from players,” ten Hag noted via TNT Sports.
@MrPenderes0 posted:
“Erik Ten Hag will never be my coach.”
@MikeHal08477906 observed:
“Worse than Solskjaer. I wonder if his agent has found him a new club for when he gets sacked.”
@Frenchy_85 fumed:
“The ‘learn from it’ quote again 🤦♂️”
@RYANGIBSON79 concluded:
“Not got a clue what he’s talking about. Better to say nothing sometimes if you ain’t going to speak the truth.”
Meanwhile, United will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they play rivals Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend.
