Ghanaian actor-turned-politician John Dumelo has pledged to tackle the accommodation challenges faced by students at the University of Ghana, Legon, within the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.
Speaking during the Community Manifesto event organized by TV3, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate highlighted the struggles students encounter, particularly regarding housing.
Dumelo criticized his opponent, Lydia Alhassan, accusing her of neglecting these issues since taking office.
He emphasized the high fees students are burdened with and vowed to address both the housing situation and the cost of education if elected, aligning with the NDC’s manifesto.
“Our priority will be to resolve the accommodation problem that students are facing. It’s a critical issue that hasn’t been addressed under her tenure,” Dumelo remarked.
He assured that the NDC’s approach to development in Ayawaso West Wuogon would focus on quality, with plans to build new hostels for students throughout the constituency.
