Electrician turned footballer: Former Kotoko player Ernest Boateng shares his story

Former player of Asante Kotoko Ernest Boateng has revealed how he combined his work as an electrician while playing for the Porcupine Warriors.

The ex-footballer who joined the Porcupine Warriors in 1994 disclosed he had initially not want to sign for the club but had to be convinced by a fan of the Reds.

Ernest Boateng was one of the pioneers of the Asante Kotoko U-20 team before going to become a first team member.

“I was an electrician before joining Kotoko U-20, we were the players they used to form the U-20,” he told ASH FM.

“I was one day called for a justify in the Senior team and after the justify the management called me to sign a contract surprisingly but i refused at the spot, so a die Hard fan of Kotoko i know much came and convince me before i signed for Kotoko which was in 1994/95 season,” he added.

“Even when i signed for Kotoko i was still doing my job as an electrician.”
