Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has delivered a strong caution to the Interim Management Committee of Asante Kotoko, emphasising that they should refrain from meddling in the responsibilities of head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
The Asantehene is insistent that the coach should have the authority to sign his preferred players and make independent selections, thereby enabling him to take full responsibility for his choices.
According to a report from Kumasi-based Akoma FM, the revered patron of the Porcupine Warriors has indicated that if the coach’s decisions lead to negative outcomes, he should be prepared to face the possibility of termination.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II installed an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to oversee the operations of Asante Kotoko in preparation for the upcoming 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
This move follows the disbandment of the previous management team’s tenure upon its completion.
The IMC’s composition also includes former Ghana national team coach, James Akwasi Appiah, and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi, who will assume the role of the club’s Administrative Manager, as well as Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah.
The primary objective of the Interim Management Committee is to fulfill the regulatory requirements for participation in the Premier League in anticipation of the approaching season.
