Ghanaian artist currently residing in the US, Armstrong Affum, widely known as Opanka has reaffirmed his strong connection to issues back home, especially the ongoing Dumsor crisis.
In a recent interview with Amansan Krakye, Opanka emphasized his commitment to Ghana, highlighting his plans to return soon.
Opanka explained that his motivation for creating the “Dumsor Demonstration” track stemmed from his enduring ties to Ghana.
He stressed the importance of true leadership, mentioning that prioritizing the needs of the people is paramount.
“My commitment extends beyond personal interests to the welfare of the entire nation, which inspired the ‘Dumsor Demonstration’ song,” he elaborated.
While acknowledging his temporary stay in the US for performances and a project, Opanka expressed his intention to resume his endeavors in Ghana.
He emphasized that the challenges faced by Ghanaians resonate deeply with him, given his roots and family ties in the country.
“For me, Ghana is home. The well-being of my family, supporters, and fellow Ghanaians weighs heavily on me. Personal comfort does not equate to happiness when my people are in distress,” Opanka added, underlining his ongoing commitment to his homeland despite being abroad.
