Ghana coach Chris Hughton and his coaching team are expressing frustration and anger due to the subpar camping facilities, leaving players upset about the poor conditions of the training pitch and overall camp environment just 11 days before the commencement of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The contentious decision to change the camp location from South Africa to Ghana is now causing significant dissatisfaction within the team.
The Black Stars initiated their nine-day camp in Kumasi at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, diverging from their initial plan to train at the Baba Yara Stadium.
However, an unfortunate turn of events occurred when the technical staff found the Baba Yara Stadium’s pitch unsuitable during the planned inspection, causing a setback to the team’s preparations.
The condition of the field was deemed unplayable, necessitating a change in their training location.
Despite this setback, the Black Stars remain committed to their goal of preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Nevertheless, the challenges posed by the unsatisfactory pitch conditions have intensified the disappointment of the technical team, underscoring the crucial need for suitable training environments to ensure optimal performance in the upcoming tournament.
