TV show host Mona Gucci has voiced her skepticism about Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, and his recent political crowdfunding initiative.
Gucci argues that despite Cheddar’s wealth, he lacks the grassroots support and achievements needed to justify public financial backing for his campaign.
Gucci highlighted how Ghana’s major political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC), have established strong support networks capable of rallying donations from their followers.
She contrasted Cheddar’s situation with that of activist-turned-politician A Plus, who is self-funding his campaign and has gained public favor through community projects.
“You’re a political starter who has done nothing. If A Plus wants to crowdfund his campaign, I will freely donate because of the boreholes and other projects he is undertaking in a short while,” Gucci stated on her show, Biribi Gyegyewo.
Emphasizing Cheddar’s opulent lifestyle, she added, “Cheddar is very luxurious, he has a portrait of his mom in one of his buildings worth about a million dollars. Those artefacts can be sold and used to fund his campaign.”
