Joao Cancelo, a defender for Manchester City, has been loaned to Bayern Munich till the end of the current campaign.
Cancelo, 28, has not scored or assisted in the Premier League since October. He has been benched for City’s last three games under Pep Guardiola in recent weeks.
Since the 2-1 defeat at Manchester United earlier this month, academy graduate Rico Lewis appears to have replaced Pep Guardiola as his go-to right-back choice.
Cancelo strengthens a Bayern team that has been in a slump, drawing their previous three Bundesliga games, but the Bavarians still lead the German top division after 18 games by one point.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side travel to Mainz on Wednesday for their DFB-Pokal last-16 clash before a trip to Wolfsburg on Sunday.
Portuguese international Cancelo moved to the Etihad from Juventus in 2019 and has twice won the Premier League with the Citizens.
The versatile full-back also won domestic league titles in previous spells at Benfica and Juve and signed a five-year contract last February.
