The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer candidate, Mr. Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko has refuted media reports that he had withdrawn from the Party’s presidential primary runoff.
After receiving nine votes, Mr. Boakye and Mr. Francis Addai-Nimo tied for fifth place in the NPP’s Special Delegates Congress on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
On Saturday, September 2, a run-off will determine which candidate will compete with the other four for the position of Party flagbearer on November 4.
However, early Monday morning media reports indicated that the former Energy Minister had dropped out of the run-off election and had endorsed Mr. Addai-Nimo.
Mr Boakye, in a press statement issued, urged the public to disregard the reports.
“I have not made any such pronouncements with anyone or any media house, I am ready for the upcoming run-off scheduled for Saturday, September 2, 2023,” he said.
The November 4 Congress will have five candidates.
