Biden visits 4-year-old American prisoner Abigail Edan of Hamas

President Joe Biden met with Abigail Edan, a 4-year-old American girl who was kept captive in Gaza at the beginning of the war.

Jake Sullivan, who works for the government, said that meeting with Abigail and her family at the White House made him remember that there is still a lot of work to be done to bring back the people who were taken by Hamas in an attack on Israel. These people are still being held captive in Gaza.

Abigail, who is a citizen of both Israel and the US, was kidnapped after her parents were killed in the attack. She was freed almost seven weeks later. She was the first American captive released by Hamas in a deal with Israel to trade hostages for Palestinian prisoners at the beginning of the conflict. Abigail had her fourth birthday while she was kept as a captive.

The video was the first time people saw Hersh Goldberg-Polin after the attack on southern Israel by Hamas on October 7th. It was unclear when the video was made.

Goldberg-Polin, who is 23 years old, was at the Tribe of Nova music festival when Hamas attacked from the nearby Gaza. In the video, Goldberg-Polin doesn’t have part of his left arm.

Witnesses said he got very upset when attackers threw grenades into a place where people were hiding. He wrapped a tight bandage around it before being put into the truck.
