Bayern Munich reportedly has a verbal agreement with Fulham midfielder João Palhinha, but the potential move may face challenges, according to Sky Sports Deutschland.
The 28-year-old initially signed a new contract with Fulham after a failed move to Bayern on the September 1 deadline. His new contract extends until the summer of 2028, featuring a substantially increased salary.
Fulham assured Palhinha that if he desired a transfer in January, the club would lower their demands to €65 million, maintaining a valuation of at least €60 million.
Currently, Bayern is reluctant to meet this sum, deeming the Portugal international too expensive. Consequently, there has been no formal inquiry or offer from Bayern at this point.
Nevertheless, the potential deal remains open, particularly since Palhinha is determined to join Bayern and has no interest in other clubs, despite links to Arsenal and Liverpool.
Expressing his desire to leave Fulham this winter, Palhinha hopes for a resolution, aligning with Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel’s interest in securing a midfielder for the holding No. 6 position.
Despite the uncertainties surrounding the transfer, Palhinha has continued to impress with 17 Premier League appearances this season, contributing two goals and an assist.
