Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, known as Opambour, the leader of Ebenezer Miracle Worship Center, has condemned Adwoa Penamang, who claims to be Yaw Sarpong’s wife, for her public handling of donated funds meant for her husband.
He stressed that the donations intended for Yaw Sarpong were specifically designated to cover the musician’s medical expenses, not for other purposes.
The clergyman criticized Penamang for suggesting that a portion of the GH¢10,000 funds contributed by NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should be used to complete a house while her husband is critically ill, describing such a proposal as inappropriate.
Opambour also denounced Penamang’s decision to discuss the matter on a radio station, asserting that her actions have brought disgrace to the ailing musician.
“She [Penamang] should realize that the donated money was not for building a house or family needs, but to manage his medical costs, nourishment, and other necessities. As his spouse, she could have even sought a loan for her husband’s care.
“Taking it to the radio was unnecessary; patience is key. Publicly shaming someone is fruitless. Many personal matters are kept private for good reason. We must be cautious about embarrassing others; the future is unpredictable,” he expressed in Twi on Prophet 1 TV.
Dr. Bawumia contributed an amount of GH¢100,000 to aid Yaw Sarpong during his health challenges.
In an interview with Auntie Naa on Oyerepa FM, Adwoa Penamang revealed how she has been mistreated and neglected by the family since Yaw Sarpong fell ill.
Penamang suggested using part of the family’s funds to finish the musician’s housing project, but her proposal was ignored. She also asserted that she has been Yaw Sarpong’s wife for forty years, despite the family and the musician denying her marital status.
Yaw Sarpong has been battling a stroke, but there are expectations for his complete recovery and resumption of his ministry.
