Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has donated GH₵200,000 to victims of the Kumasi Kejetia market fire.
The fire, which occurred on March 15, 2023, destroyed part of the market, affecting around 50 shops, of which 33 were completely burned.
During a visit to the market on March 20, 2023, the Vice President promised government support for the victims to help them resume their businesses.
However, this promise has not been fulfilled until now.
While on his campaign tour of the Ashanti region, Dr. Bawumia met with the traders in the market on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, and presented the GH₵200,000 donation.
The announcement of this support was made by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Wontumi.
