Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia recently visited veteran gospel musician Yaw Sarpong, who is facing health challenges.
The purpose of the visit was to uplift and support the ailing musician.
The NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, mentioned that Dr. Bawumia’s visit aimed to assess Yaw Sarpong’s condition and provide assistance.
During the visit, Dr. Bawumia contributed GH¢100,000 towards Yaw Sarpong’s medical care. This generous gesture was disclosed by EDHUB through their X account. The donation was part of efforts to support the musician’s healthcare needs.
Accompanying Dr. Bawumia were notable figures including the NPP National Chairman, Stephen Ntim, gospel artist Nicholas Omane Acheampong, and others. This visit highlighted the importance of solidarity and support within the community, especially during challenging times such as Yaw Sarpong’s battle with health issues.
Yaw Sarpong’s health struggles were previously confirmed by his manager, who mentioned that the musician had been dealing with a stroke for over a year. Despite the challenges, there is hope for his recovery, with support from well-wishers and those touched by his music.
Before his manager’s confirmation, gospel singers Diana Asamoah and Maame Tiwa had already raised awareness about Yaw Sarpong’s health condition. Their efforts underscore the unity and compassion within the music industry and the broader community in Ghana.
