NPP Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has paid a courtesy call on Yagbonwura Bi-kunuto Jewu Soale, the Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area, at Damongo.
During his visit, the Vice President and his entourage laid prostrate before the Yagbonwura as a sign of reverence
This visit comes ahead of his engagement with Imams, Clergy, the Savannah Region House of Chiefs, and the youth of the region today, May 15.
The recent visit by the Vice President comes not long after claims suggesting that the Yagbonwura was directed to stand and acknowledge President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during a recent visit.
Various media outlets had hinted that during an event in Damongo on Saturday, April 27, 2024, the Overlord of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, was instructed to rise and greet the President.
In a statement, Chieftaincy Minister Stephen Asamoah Boateng urged the public to disregard these erroneous reports.
