Ghanaian politician and entrepreneur Baba Sadiq recently addressed the ongoing legal dispute between him and Reggae/Dancehall artist Stonebwoy, shedding light on what sparked the controversy.

In an interview on 3FM, Baba Sadiq recounted that the conflict originated from his public support for Afrobeat sensation King Promise over Stonebwoy in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Artiste of the Year category.

According to Baba Sadiq, a simple tweet expressing his backing for King Promise triggered backlash from some of Stonebwoy’s fans. He mentioned, “It all started with a tweet saying, ‘Keep winning my King, my AOTY,’ alongside a repost of King Promise’s performance in Canada. This sparked negative reactions from fans.”

Things escalated when a fan accused Baba Sadiq of owing money to Stonebwoy, leading to a response from Baba Sadiq. The situation took a more serious turn when Stonebwoy allegedly made an unwanted phone call to Baba Sadiq’s wife, followed by some of Stonebwoy’s fans attacking her on social media.

Baba Sadiq perceived these actions as a deliberate attempt to involve his wife in the dispute, prompting him to take legal action against Stonebwoy. He mentioned, “After responding to the accusation of owing money to Stonebwoy, he called my wife, and I was displeased with the content of the call. Later, seeing a tweet from his fan targeting my wife made me believe it was not coincidental but part of a planned effort to drag my wife into the conflict.”

The situation has now reached a point where legal measures are being pursued. Baba Sadiq expressed his decision to refrain from further public statements, stating, “He claims to have an audio recording of that call, but I was not happy with what was said to my wife. Since he’s also unhappy and taking legal action, I’ll let the lawyers handle it.”
