Akumfi Ameyaw Senior High Technical School, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Senior High School, Atebubu Senior High School, and Kintampo Senior High School have emerged as the representatives from the Bono East region for the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
Following their impressive performance during the regional qualifiers, these four schools have secured a spot in the national championship. The contest between Akumfi Ameyaw Senior High Technical School and Nkoranza Senior High School was particularly intense, with Akumfi Ameyaw emerging victorious with a significant 19-point lead.
Nkoranza Senior High School, which was once the Bono-Ahafo zonal champions, unfortunately, failed to qualify for the national stage for the second consecutive year.

They managed 39 points at the end of the contest.
In the regional qualifiers, Akumfi Ameyaw Senior High School faced tough competition from Abease Senior High School, St. Francis Seminary, and Kwame Danso Senior High School. The latter three schools seemed to be falling behind in the race, unable to keep up with the pace set by Akumfi Ameyaw SHS.
Akumfi Ameyaw SHS strategically answered their main questions in the first round, accumulating bonuses and widening their lead over the other schools. Their dominance was further evident in the True/False round, where they scored a perfect ten out of ten, leaving their competitors trailing behind.
With a remarkable score of 58 points, the highest in the Regional Qualifiers so far, teachers and students of Akumfi Ameyaw SHS express confidence that their journey in this year’s competition will lead them to the grand finale.

Qualified yet downhearted, that was the feeling after students of the Atebubu Senior High School secured their slot at the national stage.
After what appeared to be an easy win for the school, contestants of the school who were optimistic of an impressive performance could only garner 33 points against schools they described as their unmatched contenders – Busunya SHS and Jema SHS who managed 8 and 15 points respectively.
They have however resolved to improve ahead of the national competition.
Kintampo SHS emerged victorious in the second contest for the day after they faced off with Prang SHS and Tuobodom SHS.
They secured 31 points while the two schools garnered 17 and 24 points respectively.
Students from the school say they are ready to melt their opposition at any level of the competition.
The last contest which featured Our Lady of Mt. Carmel SHS, Yeji SHS and Amanten SHS saw the only female school from the Bono East regional qualify as the fourth school to the nationals.
