A political analyst, Dr Emmanuel Anti, has launched scathing criticism against President Akufo-Addo, branding him as a dishonest politician who has failed to be candid with Ghanaians. Anti accused the President of inconsistency and deception, particularly regarding his administration’s handling of infrastructure projects and economic management.
During a recent interview, Anti highlighted the contradictions between the President’s past statements and his current stance. He pointed out that during the 2016 campaign, Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) disparaged the achievements of former President John Dramani Mahama in the road sector, claiming that “we don’t eat roads” and thus, emphasizing road infrastructure was unnecessary.
However, Anti criticized the President and his party for later boasting about their achievements in the road sector, alleging that this showed insincerity and deception. He questioned the President’s excitement about road projects in his recent State of the Nation Address (SONA), given his previous stance on the matter.
Furthermore, Anti criticized the President for not utilizing the economic expertise of Vice President Bawumia to address the country’s economic challenges effectively. He cited instances where Vice President Bawumia distanced himself from economic woes, claiming his role was merely advisory. Anti argued that President Akufo-Addo’s acceptance of blame for economic issues indicated his failure in leadership.
Anti concluded by asserting that if President Akufo-Addo did not voluntarily resign, he should be removed from office due to his perceived failure in discharging his duties effectively.
