New Patriotic Party‘s (NPP) candidate for the Adentan constituency, Akosua Manu criticized the leaked tape from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that implicated the Attorney General in the ongoing ambulance purchase trial.
She likened the hype around the tape to that of a new Ghallywood movie.
However, according to her, the tape turned out to be empty and lacked any incriminating evidence against Godfred Yeboah Dame, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice.
“They hyped the tape with so much noise on countdown and there was no peace in Ghana’s last couple of days. But I didn’t hear Dame’s voice because it wasn’t audible enough. Later there was another file circulating on social media and there was nothing to show the AG did anything wrong.
“Whether they like it or not but the tape was doctored. It was spliced and they can’t deny it,” she stated in an interview on Accra-based Peace FM.
Manu mentioned in an interview with Peace FM that despite the noise surrounding the tape and its initial impact on Ghana’s peace, it did not contain clear evidence against Dame.
She also expressed doubts about the authenticity of the tape, suggesting that it was doctored and spliced.
The NDC released the audio recording to support claims of unethical behavior by the Attorney General in the prosecution of Richard Jakpa and two others in the Ambulance procurement case.
However, the NPP dismissed the tape as fabricated and manipulated by the NDC.
