Alhaji Iddrisu Iddisah Seidu steps down as Customs Commissioner

A solemn ceremony unfolded at the Customs Headquarters in Accra, marking the departure of Commissioner Alhaji Iddrisu Iddisah Seidu, who dedicated over three decades to Customs service.

Attendees, including industry stakeholders and security personnel, gathered to pay tribute to his distinguished tenure.

Throughout his leadership, Commissioner Seidu earned acclaim for his unwavering dedication and exemplary guidance.

His transformative initiatives led to notable advancements within the Customs division of GRA, fostering efficiency, transparency, and revenue growth.

Expressing gratitude, Mr Seidu acknowledged the collaborative efforts that propelled Customs procedures into modernization, leveraging technology such as ASYCUDA, GCNET, and ICUMS.

He highlighted recent endeavors like the Time Release Study aimed at enhancing clearance processes and compliance strategies.

Commissioner-General Julie Essiam hailed Seidu’s visionary leadership, foreseeing his legacy as an inspiration for future generations.

She lauded his integrity, resilience, and mentorship, emphasizing his pivotal role in shaping the Customs department’s growth.

Incoming Commissioner Zeblim Bawah Ayorrogo pledged to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, transparency, and accountability. Recognizing Customs enforcement as crucial for national security, he affirmed his commitment to diligence and integrity.

Deputy Finance Minister Stephen Amoah commended Seidu’s stewardship in fortifying Ghana’s borders and fiscal interests.

Through innovative technologies and streamlined processes, Seidu’s tenure facilitated both security measures against threats and facilitated legitimate trade and economic progress.
