Former presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, has offered his perspective on Alan Kyeremanten’s departure from the party.
He emphasised that Alan’s decision to leave the party after many years should prompt soul-searching within the party rather than being a cause for celebration among some party members.
Agyarko also noted that while Alan’s resignation is public knowledge, there may be others within the party who have mentally resigned and are only waiting for the elections to officially abandon the party.
“At least my brother Kyerematen has put his thoughts and feelings on paper for all to appreciate. How about the many who harbour similar and maybe more petulant sentiments in their hearts but are not openly expressing same?
“There are many in our party today who, out of dismay, resigned in their hearts and are only waiting to walk away from us at the ballot box,” he said in a statement.
Furthermore, the former campaign manager for President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of party executives in reconciling differences and comforting disheartened members at all tiers of the party.
Alan Kyerematen’s choice to contest the 2024 presidential elections as an independent candidate stemmed from his belief that the NPP had experienced substantial transformations, straying from its traditional identity.
