A Toyota Corolla car carrying five individuals, including the driver, sustained injuries in a severe road accident when it collided with a moving Benz Tipper truck.
The incident occurred as the speeding Toyota Corolla, traveling from the Ejisu direction to Tech-junction, failed to adhere to a red traffic light at the Tech roundabout on Friday, February 9, 2024, around 5:00 pm.
The injured parties, namely Agyemang Amankwah (the driver), Opoku Andrews (48 years old), and Emmanuel Nyomator (29 years old), are currently hospitalized.
Kingsley Narh (27 years old) and Kwabena Boateng (32 years old) are also undergoing treatment.
The police statement highlighted that the collision involved the Toyota Corolla and a Benz Tipper truck (No.AS9362G) driven by Agyemang Amankwah, aged 48 years, who was proceeding from the CCC-direction when the traffic light signaled green for him to proceed.
“At Tech roundabout he failed to observe the traffic light when shown red with his speeding vehicle and crashed into a Benz Tipper truck No.AS9362G, being driven by Agyemang Amankwah, aged 48 years, who was from the CCC-direction when the Traffic light had shown green for him to go,” the statement read in parts.
The police have towed the accident vehicles to the station for testing, and investigations into the precise cause of the crash are ongoing.
