Renowned music producer and sound engineer, Hammer recently spoke out against Mark Okraku Mantey’s appointment as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts.
During an interview with Starr FM in Accra, Hammer outlined his reservations, pointing to Mantey’s consistent prioritization of personal gain over communal interests.
“I never backed Mark’s appointment, and I made my stance known on social media,” Hammer affirmed.
“We have a longstanding history, and my stance on certain matters is quite clear.”
Hammer highlighted Mantey’s lack of substantial contributions to the industry, despite acknowledging his business acumen.
He stressed that public office necessitates a dedication to serving the greater good, a quality he believes Mantey lacks.
“Public service requires putting the community’s needs first and foremost, a principle Mark hasn’t consistently adhered to,” Hammer explained.
Drawing a comparison, Hammer lauded Ibrahim Ohene Gyan’s approach at OM Studios, where individuals are nurtured and guided to reach their full potential.
“Ibrahim’s mentorship extends beyond professional growth; he invests in people’s personal lives, fostering a sense of community and development, I suppoerted Abraham Ohene Djan to be Deputy Tourism Minister over Mark Okraku Mantey,” Hammer stated.
In summary, Hammer questioned Mantey’s track record of community-focused achievements and emphasized the importance of genuine public service.
“Mark may not be malicious, but his actions have often reflected self-interest rather than a commitment to serving the public good,” Hammer concluded.
