Abeka: Man burns himself to death after failing to murder wife

In a shocking incident that unfolded in Abeka, within the Greater Accra Region, a man reportedly resorted to setting himself ablaze following a failed attempt to harm his wife.

The distressing event transpired during the early hours of Monday, May 6, 2024, after the husband had repeatedly threatened to end both his own life and that of his wife.

Martina Jones, a 38-year-old mother of three, recounted the terrifying ordeal to Adom News.

According to Martina, her estranged husband, Collins Jones, launched a brutal assault on her while she was asleep around 3 a.m. He struck her head with a sizable stick, inflicting severe injury and causing profuse bleeding.

The situation escalated as Collins attempted to strangle her.

However, Martina’s quick reflexes enabled her to escape his grip and flee the room. Prompt intervention from neighbors ensured she received immediate assistance and was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.

In a desperate bid to evade accountability or driven by despair, Collins resorted to setting their residence on fire.

Neighbors arrived to find him in critical condition and promptly transported him to the hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

This distressing incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community, prompting law enforcement to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
