A/R: Two suspected robbers gunned down by police at Santasi Kajasi

Two suspected robbers have been shot and killed by Police in the Ashanti Region during a shoot out.

The shootout occurred today [Wednesday] at 2:00 am.

The suspected armed robbers, numbering about four, had embarked on a robbery at Santasi Kajasi, Oteng Nkwanta and its environs.

According to police, they succeeded in robbing occupants of about five houses of their monies, mobile phones, Laptops and other Personal effects.

“The Police Information Room and Command Centre received a number of distress calls on the robbery and dispatched Police Patrol Teams within the area to the Scene.”

“The robbers on seeing Police opened fire. The Team also returned fire leaving two of the suspected robbers between the ages of 20, and 30 years dead, two others who are suspected to have sustained gunshots wounds managed to escape,” a statement from police recounted.

A search at the scene revealed two weapons: one foreign pistol loaded with three live ammunition, one revolver with three spent ammunition, two big backpacks containing three laptops 24 assorted mobile phones, two machetes and a 3,580.

The bodies of the deceased persons have since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital awaiting identification and autopsy, whilst efforts are underway to get those who

The Ashanti Region Police Command has appealed to all Medical facilities in the Region and elsewhere to be on the lookout for anyone who visits their facilities with suspected gunshot wounds.
