Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah was recently honoured as Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs) held on November 2 in Lagos, Nigeria.
This recognition came for her performance in the film Red Carpet, produced by her long-time manager, filmmaker, and costume designer, Samira Yakubu.
Directed by Frank Rajah Arase, the movie features a talented ensemble cast, including Grace Omaboe, Selly Ghally, Kalsoume Sinare, Roseline Ngissah, Adjetey Annang, Abeiku Santana, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Beverly Afaglo.
Jackie Appiah is no stranger to the AMAAs, having won her first award in 2007 as Best Supporting Actress for her role in Beyonce and later taking home the Best Actress in a Leading Role award in 2010 for her work in The Perfect Picture, directed by Shirley Frimpong Manso.
Over the years, she has become a respected figure in African cinema, praised for her versatility and dedication.
Aside from her recent achievements, Jackie is widely recognised for her roles in popular movies like The Love Doctor, Royal Battle, Chasing Hope, Princess, The Prince’s Bride, Fake Feelings, Wind of Love, Total Love, Passion of the Soul, Mortal Desire, Pretty Queen, and The King is Mine.
