The Africa Film Academy, organisers of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs), have officially unveiled the nominees for the 20th edition of the prestigious awards.
Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah earned a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal in the film “Red Carpet” at this year’s AMAAs.
The announcement was made during the 20th edition launch held on October 2 in Ikeja, Nigeria. Jackie will contend with fellow nominees Girley Jazama, Oyin Oladejo, Unati Faku, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Laura Pepple, and Ife Irele for the top honour.
Prominent figures in attendance included Tony Anih, AMAA’s Chief Operating Officer, and Kingsley James, producer of the AMAA gala night.
Themed “Celebrating African Creativity,” this milestone event promises to be a spectacular celebration of African excellence in filmmaking.
AMAA’s founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, revealed an exciting lineup of activities for the 20th edition:
– November 1: AMAA Africa Night of Legends
– AMAA Meets Nollywood (date TBA)
– AMAA Africa Fashion Show and Exhibition (date TBA)
– November 2: AMAA Gala Night at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos
Anyiam-Osigwe stated that the 2024 AMAAs are set to reshape the landscape of continental awards, paving the way for a brighter future while honouring excellence in Africa’s creative sector.
