Gloria Sarfo accuses AMAA of issuing invalid flight tickets to Ghanaian filmmakers

Ghanaian actress Gloria Sarfo has strongly criticised the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for allegedly issuing invalid flight tickets to Ghanaian filmmakers, who were promised an all-expenses-paid trip to the event.

Sarfo, along with fellow industry figures such as Pascal Amanfo and Akorfa Adjeani, found themselves stranded and embarrassed at the airport when they realized their names were not listed in the airline’s system.

Sarfo explained that they received invitations with detailed itineraries and assurances that travel expenses would be fully covered.

However, upon arriving at the airport, they were met with silence from AMAA and soon discovered that their flights had not been confirmed.

Expressing her frustration, Sarfo noted that they could have paid for their own tickets if given the option but had trusted the organization’s commitment to covering their travel.

This mishap, she added, caused her to miss several important career engagements, including a film project, a premiere, and another awards event.

She further highlighted that Ghanaian organizers ensure Nigerian guests are well taken care of at similar events in Ghana, covering their travel, accommodation, and occasionally even offering honoraria.

Sarfo voiced her disappointment at not receiving the same respect in return.

Calling for an apology from AMAA, she urged the Ghanaian film industry to address such incidents, which, she argued, undervalue their contributions to African cinema.
