A representative from Rochester City Council, New York, US has presented a certificate of appreciation to the Buzstopboys in Accra.
The Buzstopboys are a group of young Ghanaians dedicated to improving the cleanliness of public spaces in Accra, Ghana.
They focus on cleaning bus stops and heavily trafficked areas in a bid to make “Clean Ghana” a reality.
In a post shared on their Instagram page, a woman who refers to herself as Akosua, clad in a Rochester City Council-branded shirt, read the note of appreciation while surrounded by the ‘boys’.
“On behalf of the City Council and the Citizens of Rochester, New York, we offer our congratulations and admiration for your volunteerism and service in Ghana, West Africa. We share in Rochester.
You play a vital role in promoting a clean and vibrant community by providing education through the care and maintenance of streets, parks, and various communities.
Thank you, Buzstopboys, for being a shining light and example for positive impact, and know that your work is seen and appreciated in your community and across the globe,” the plaque read.
