110,000 Ghana Cards withheld due to double registration – NIA

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has reported that over 110,000 Ghana Cards are currently on hold due to issues with double registrations.

Although the NIA has issued more than 18 million cards to Ghanaians, about 150,000 cards remain to be printed.

At a recent appearance before the Parliamentary Assurance Committee, the Executive Secretary of the NIA, Prof. Kenneth Agyeman Attafuah, revealed that the authority has begun investigating the cases of multiple registrations.

“The total number of cards not issued to Ghanaians as of the date of compilation of this report which was August 20, 2024, is 559, 457 and cards cleared and ready to be printed stands at 150,896.

“We have a total of 110,936, as the number of Ghanaians who have attempted multiple registrations whose cards have gone into delinquency and is being investigated,” he disclosed.
