Social media must be regulated – Mzbel

Mzbel, the renowned singer, has voiced her concerns about the troubling rise in cyberbullying and misuse of social media.

In a recent interview on Accra FM, she shared her past experiences with online harassment, revealing that she had previously taken legal action against bloggers and media figures.

Although these cases were kept confidential due to their sensitive nature, she indicated that those involved have since reflected on their actions and changed their behavior.

Mzbel expressed her dismay over the negative trends on social media, noting that it has increasingly become a tool for character assassination and spreading misinformation.

She believes that social media platforms are being exploited for harmful purposes, and that this misuse has turned them into weapons of defamation.

The singer also criticized certain online publications for prioritizing sensationalism over accuracy, which often results in the dissemination of unverified information.

She called for greater accountability and urged the government to implement more robust laws to combat cyberbullying and promote responsible online conduct.
