Only an experienced leader can revive Ghana’s economy, choose me – Mahama to Ghanaians

The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has underscored the importance of electing “an experienced leader” to revitalize the country’s fortunes.

During a visit to the Awayaso West Wuogun and Adenta Constituencies in Accra on Thursday, Mahama highlighted that the NDC possesses the “experience” necessary to address and resolve the nation’s current “economic crisis.”

“Our nation is in crisis; times have never been as hard in Ghana as they are today… Unfortunately, the people who have caused the economic crises do not even realize there is a crisis,” he said.

Mahama said that if the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government “understood” the present economic crisis, they would have taken steps to resolve it.

“If you [NPP] have anything to do for Ghanaians, you have enough time to do it now. If you can’t do it in five months, there is no guarantee that you can do it even if we give you four years or eight years,” he added.

The tour commenced at the La Bawaleshie Chief’s Palace, where Mahama spoke to party supporters, urging them to remain vigilant for the December elections.

Mahama contended that Ghanaians are “wide awake” and will not be swayed by “false promises” from the NPP. “

The flagbearer criticized the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, calling him an “inexperienced driver’s mate.”

“If you have two buses and one is a driver’s mate, who has been an apprentice to a driver, and you have an experienced driver who has driven you several times, back and forth, to your destination, which of those two buses will you sit in?” he asked.

Mahama reflected on the disturbances during the 2020 Awayaso West Wuogun election and committed to “pursuing justice” for those who lost their lives in that area. He promised that a future NDC government would establish a community day school in the constituency, which currently lacks a secondary school.

At the University of Ghana’s Commonwealth Hall, Mahama pledged to collaborate with private developers to build additional hostels to address accommodation shortages.

John Dumelo, who also spoke, expressed strong confidence in the NDC’s chances of winning the Awayaso West Wuogun seat. He urged voters to come out in large numbers on Election Day and stressed the need for enhanced security in the constituency, which has become “an economic hub.” Dumelo also called on Mahama to reinstate the licenses of failed banks if elected.

At the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Calvary Congregation, in the Adentan Constituency, Mahama reiterated his “24-hour Economy” agenda, outlining plans to stabilize the economy and create jobs. Mohammed Ramadan, the MP for Adentan, encouraged his constituents to vote for Mahama to ensure the NDC retains a parliamentary majority.

The NDC team then proceeded to Adenta Market, where Mahama addressed a crowd of enthusiastic supporters amid a vibrant display of party paraphernalia and stunt riding.
