Fear and concern have seized delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Abuakwa North following reports of alleged deaths linked to a curse invoked over purportedly taking GH¢5,000 from Palgrave Boakye Danquah.
Doris Quainoo, one of over 300 delegates claimed to have been coerced by Palgrave Boakye Danquah’s campaign team, is urging the party to hold the government spokesperson on security and governance accountable for any further incidents involving the delegates.
In response, Palgrave Boakye Danquah has strongly denied forcing delegates to sit on a black stool.
In a statement dated July 15, 2024, he addressed what he called malicious allegations from the Daily Democrat, a media outlet he believes is aligned with the opposition.
In a letter issued on July 15, 2024, he stated: “I, Dr. Palgrave Boakye Danquah, am compelled to respond to malicious allegations published by the Daily Democrat, a media outlet perceived to be aligned with the opposition. Despite my gracious concession in the NPP parliamentary primaries election held in January 2024 in Abuakwa North, the Daily Democrat, in a publication dated July 15, 2024, falsely claims that I asked delegates of my party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to swear and invoke curses.”
Despite conceding graciously in the NPP parliamentary primaries in January 2024 for Abuakwa North, Boakye Danquah emphasized that the claims of urging delegates to swear and invoke curses are unfounded and harmful to his reputation.
Boakye Danquah clarified that despite his royal lineage, he has never seen the black stool, which only chiefs may view once in their lifetime.
Furthermore, he highlighted that invoking curses is forbidden throughout the Akyem Abuakwa Kingdom.
He reassured his supporters, the media, and the public of his steadfast commitment to peaceful and patriotic politics.
