The controversy arose from similarities in lyrics between Tiwa Savage’s song and Amoako Belo’s earlier work, “Kilimanjaro.”
Amoako Belo alleges copyright infringement by Tiwa Savage in her song “Kilamanjaro.”
He wrote: “Who is that Kilimanjaro singer? If I start right now them go say I be wicked. I go strike her YouTube page down and sue her. What is the difference between the two songs? Somebody tell her to report and do the needful. That’s all.”
Social media debates ensued over the ownership of the term “Kilimanjaro.”
Some argue Belo didn’t coin it, while others note lyric similarities.
Tiwa Savage hasn’t addressed the accusation yet.
