TGMA Artist of the Year for 2024, Stonebwoy recently addressed an escalating conflict with media investor Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, who has filed a police complaint against him.

In a discussion with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Stonebwoy emphasized the importance of choosing battles wisely, stating that not every criticism or attack warrants a response.

He likened dealing with detractors to handling barking dogs, noting that while some may require attention, others can be ignored.

“You don’t bark back at every dog that barks at you. You don’t throw stones at every dog barking at you. But some dogs you have to, you know, deal with.”

“We started by saying how reputations began. There are some that you cannot leave out because of who is saying it and the kind of agenda that is behind it,” he added.

However, Stonebwoy also acknowledged that certain criticisms, particularly those stemming from specific individuals with agendas, must be addressed to protect his reputation and brand.

“From all the stuff I’ve said today, listen to it clearly and look at the build-up. It tells you that there is a bigger plan for their antics. However, I can only stand and state my truth. This is as simple as that.

“Like I said, you can’t just be following just everybody. On Twitter, people overdo it.”

Stonebwoy hinted at a larger strategy aimed at provoking him into reacting, emphasizing the need to discern genuine concerns from malicious intent.

He urged people to evaluate criticisms objectively rather than engaging in excessive and unproductive social media exchanges.

“This is supposed to be taken seriously and cleaned. I implore you to pick up the tweet and read them, then you can understand the level it is at and therefore the need to clean up a very honourable brand as Stonebwoy,” he added.

In urging netizens to read and understand the context of tweets and criticisms, Stonebwoy highlighted the importance of maintaining a positive image and encouraged constructive feedback to help him improve and safeguard his brand.
