Minister for Roads and Highways Francis Asenso-Boakye recently conducted an inspection of several ongoing road projects in the Northern Region to gauge their progress.

Among these projects were the 168-kilometre Tamale to Tatali Road, a 140-km stretch of roads in the Gushegu Municipality, the 5km Pong Tamale to Kpalung to Larigu Road, and the 13km Savelugu by-pass, all of which were at different stages of completion.

During a press interaction at the construction site in Yendi, Mr. Asenso-Boakye highlighted the significance of these roads in boosting socio-economic activities, alleviating traffic congestion, and reducing traveling distances for motorists in the region. He emphasized their role in enhancing agricultural activities, facilitating trade, promoting tourism, and fostering overall economic development, particularly in Dagbon and the Northern Region.

Expressing optimism, Asenso-Boakye mentioned that the Yendi to Tatale Road is projected to be completed by November of this year.

In addition to inspecting the projects, Asenso-Boakye also met with Paramount Chiefs of Karaga and Gushegu, as well as the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari (II), to update them on the progress.

Ya-Na Abukari (II) praised the government for initiating these vital projects and urged the Minister to also prioritize the construction of key roads such as the Kumbungu to Savelugu Road, Jemli to Tidjo to Tampion Road, and other crucial routes in farming communities to improve road safety and enhance socio-economic activities in those areas.
