Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and Presidential Aspirant for the NPP in the upcoming December 2024 elections, to take decisive action to review the Chieftaincy Act if elected as president.

According to the Asantehene, this review would facilitate better collaboration between chiefs and the government, allowing for more active participation in the country’s development process.

Furthermore, the revision would empower chiefs, the custodians of the land, to effectively partner with the government in combating illegal mining, which is damaging the country’s rivers, forests, land, and other natural resources.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu made these remarks when the Vice President visited him at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi during his three-day campaign tour of the Ashanti region.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of continuing all ongoing development projects across the country and initiating major new ones to foster growth and sustainable development.

He urged the Vice President to clearly communicate his vision to the people, helping them to understand and support him in the December elections.

During his visit to Opoku Ware Senior High School, Dr. Bawumia presented over 4,000 tablets to the students as part of the government’s smart school initiative aimed at ensuring quality education in the technological age.
