Wave Africa, the organizers of TF Hostel Reunion Rave Artiste Night, found themselves addressing widespread confusion and disappointment after the event’s abrupt cancellation, particularly due to the absence of Shatta Wale’s performance.
The genesis of this saga lay in Wave Africa’s initial agreement with James Topp Nelson Yankah Hall executives. This collaboration, which had been in the works for two months, culminated in a formal contract signed on June 5th, 2024, for Shatta Wale to headline the event.
Following this agreement, promotional materials featuring Shatta Wale were circulated. However, the event took an unexpected turn on June 7th when the Dean of Students Office announced its cancellation. Despite assurances from the hall executives that the issues had been resolved, a subsequent attempt to proceed with the event encountered renewed opposition.
On June 8th, during setup and sound check activities, campus security intervened, citing instructions from higher authorities. Despite attempts to resolve the situation through dialogue with the Dean of Students Office, Wave Africa was informed that Shatta Wale’s performance was not permitted.
Wave Africa, complying with this directive, expressed disappointment and issued an apology to fans for the unfulfilled promise of Shatta Wale’s performance. They also hinted at exploring legal options after engaging with all stakeholders involved in this unfortunate episode.
