Be mindful of your utterances against Bawumia – Ahiagbah tells Alan’s advisor

The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah has cautioned Nana Ohene Ntow, an advisor to Independent Presidential Candidate Alan Kyerematen, against his remarks concerning the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the government.

Mr. Ahiagbah emphasized the NPP’s respect for Ohene Ntow’s candidate, Mr. Kyerematen, stating they would refrain from making harsh comments against him.

This came after Ohene Ntow suggested on Peace FM’s Kokroko show that major institutions under the current government are more corrupt than previous administrations, a statement Mr. Ahiagbah deemed subjective.

Ahiagbah stressed that corruption allegations are inconclusive, as the law ultimately determines guilt. He also acknowledged Ohene Ntow’s remark that digitalization doesn’t encompass the entire economy but pointed out its pivotal role in driving economic growth and prosperity today.

“In a recent appearance on Peace FM’s Kokroko show, the former general secretary and ex-member of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Ohene Ntow, made some comments about Dr. Bawumia that need to be corrected: 1. Dr. Bawumia’s competence and ability to effectively manage Ghana’s economy as president remain unquestioned.

“The current economic challenges, which may have influenced Nana Ohene Ntow’s remarks, are primarily due to external factors such as COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War and do not accurately reflect Bawumia’s capabilities. 2. It would be beneficial for Nana Ohene-Ntow to revisit economic data from 2017, 2018, and 2019, when the economy was growing at an average of 7% before the impact of COVID-19.

“This would provide a more accurate assessment of the current government’s economic management record. 3. Nana Ohene Ntow’s assertion that major institutions under this government are more corrupt than previous administrations is subjective. Allegations of corruption are not conclusive, as the law has the final say in such matters.

“Nana Ohene Ntow’s suggestion that digitalization is not the entire economy can be pardoned. However, it is widely recognized that digitalization is a significant driver of economic growth and prosperity today. 5. Nana Ohene-Ntow supports Alan Kyerematen, whom we respect and would not want to speak roughly about his candidacy or campaign.”
