TA Airways officially starts operations at KIA

ITA Airways has successfully launched its commercial flight operations at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The inaugural flight landed at approximately 7:39 PM, greeted by a water cannon salute from the Rescue and Fire Fighting team of the Ghana Airports Company Limited.

In her welcome address, Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, congratulated the ITA Airways team on the successful launch.

She noted that the commencement of flights on the Rome/Accra/Rome route demonstrated strong confidence in Ghana’s aviation sector and bolstered efforts to position Ghana as a premier aviation hub and leader in airport business in West Africa.

Mrs. Opare highlighted that the direct flight route introduces a new era of convenience and efficiency for travelers, offering more options and seamless connectivity between Rome and Accra for both business and leisure.

She also mentioned the recent commissioning of Tamale International Airport and Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi, urging airlines to explore the opportunities in these markets.

She assured that the Ghana Airports Company Limited, as the operator and manager of all airports in Ghana, is committed to supporting ITA Airways to achieve high on-time departure and arrival performance.

‘’Our expectation is that ITA Airways will go the extra mile to deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring a seamless travel experience to passengers’’ she said.

Mrs. Opare called on stakeholders to continue supporting the Ghana Airports Company Limited in its efforts to achieve its vision, aligning with the broader government vision for the aviation industry.

Other speakers at the event included Pierfrancesco Carino, Vice President Sales of ITA Airways; H.E. Merena Botsio Benyah, Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy; H.E. Daniela d’Orlandi, Ambassador of Italy to Ghana and Togo; and Reverend Stephen Wilfred Arthur, Director of Economic Regulations and Business Development at the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.

With the arrival of ITA Airways, it becomes the 24th international airline to operate at Kotoka International Airport. The airline will offer four weekly flights from Italy to Accra on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
