Two apprehended in stabbing incident involving Hawa Koomson’s son

Two individuals have been apprehended by the police in connection with a stabbing incident near the Ofaakor Electoral Commission Office in the Central Region, close to Kasoa.

The victim, Ato Koomson, is the son of the MP for Awutu Senya East and Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson.

The altercation arose from a disagreement over seating arrangements at a venue where the Electoral Commission was facilitating the transfer of votes and replacement of missing ID cards.

Michael Addo, the Constituency Secretary of the Awutu Senya East New Patriotic Party (NPP), received a call in the early hours of Sunday, June 2, regarding this dispute.

Ato Koomson, having arrived at the scene before Michael Addo, alerted him about the escalating tension.

Ato mentioned that he had information suggesting that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) planned to disrupt the proceedings.

Despite efforts to calm the situation, Ato Koomson was reportedly stabbed by an individual believed to be affiliated with the NDC.

Michael Addo emphasized their commitment to pursuing justice regardless of the parties involved, urging the police to expedite action in resolving the matter.

Although the police didn’t disclose the identities of those arrested, reports indicate that they are NDC members.

King Adawu, an NPP member who also sustained minor injuries, recounted that the alleged NDC member pulled out a knife during the altercation, resulting in Ato Koomson’s injury to the chest and a minor cut to King Adawu’s hand as he attempted to intervene.
