Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has offered his viewpoint on LGBT+ activities, condemning them as a contradiction to his beliefs as both a Christian and a traditionalist.

Expressing skepticism towards the Western perspective on same-sex relationships, the Ga leader proposed that advocating for polygamy would align more closely with his values.

“I believe the West should promote polygamy.

Why do they promote same-sex relationships and think polygamy is bad?” citinewsroom.com quoted him to have said in an interview.

When questioned about his stance on the pending anti-LGBT+ bill awaiting President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s approval, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II dismissed it as inconsequential to his attention.

He expressed his belief that individuals’ rights and preferences should not be the central focus of public discourse.

In the midst of this, the Ghanaian Parliament passed the Promotion of Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, commonly referred to as the anti-LGBT+ bill.

This bill, currently awaiting presidential endorsement, prohibits activities related to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) individuals and criminalizes their advocacy, promotion, and financial support.

Violators of these provisions could face imprisonment ranging from six months to three years, while those promoting or sponsoring such activities may receive sentences of three to five years.

However, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has declined to sign the bill into law, citing legal concerns.
