Announce 2019 Artiste of the Year – Stonebwoy tells TGMA

Celebrated Ghanaian artist Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, made a powerful plea for recognition during his acceptance speech at the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

Upon receiving his latest honor, Stonebwoy reflected on his journey and addressed past controversies.

“I have been very consistent, and I have been very hardworking throughout the years,” Stonebwoy remarked. “Ever since I won the Ghana Music Artist of the Year in 2015, I won it again in 2019, but we all see what happened.”

His comments referred to the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, now the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, where an altercation with fellow artist Shatta Wale disrupted the ceremony, resulting in the Artist of the Year award being withheld.

Stonebwoy appealed to Charterhouse, the award organizers, saying, “I just want to plead with Charterhouse, as honorable as they are, to make sure that they announce the winner, which I’m confident was Stonebwoy for 2019.”

The 2019 incident, which escalated on stage, generated significant media coverage and industry discussions. Both artists have since moved on, with Stonebwoy focusing on his music and career growth.
