Darren Dutchyshen’s family has sadly announced his death while he was with his closest loved ones.
The broadcaster was always present in Canadian sports media and was born in Regina. Darren Dutchyshen started working at TSN in 1995, hosting the weekend editions of SportsDesk. Over the next thirty years, he became popular for hosting late-night episodes of SportsCentre, the network’s main show.
“Darren is a funny and engaging person who was great at connecting with people on TV,” said Stewart Johnston, who works for Bell Media.
Johnston said he is a very important part of TSN for the last 30 years and a great teammate.
He was open about his prostate cancer and had to stop hosting SportsCentre in 2021.
A year later, he came back on the air and said that the cancer was still in his body. However, he said he felt like he had to work.
“I feel happiest right here,” he said.
“Jennifer Hedger said you are the best at this job in the country. ” “Not even close with a bullet. ”
“He continued to be funny right until the end, telling lots of jokes, most of which were good but all of them were not suitable for the situation. ”
The network wants to pay tribute to Dutchyshen in the next few days. They will ask his friends and colleagues to share stories about his personality and long career.
