Shortly after heavy rains in the early hours of May 6, one person is reported to be in critical condition following an incident where a tree fell on a motorcycle and a 4-wheel drive.
The rainfall in the Accra Airport area had a devastating effect, causing numerous trees to split and resulting in damage to cars parked nearby.
The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued weather warnings due to heavy rainfall in the southern part of the country. The rain, originating from a storm observed over southern Togo, is expected to move westward and affect areas in southern Ghana.
The weather may bring thunderstorms or rain of varying intensities, along with increased cloud cover. Moderate to strong winds may also accompany the rainstorm in some areas.
Between 7 and 11 in the morning on May 6, areas including Aflao, Keta, Dzodze, Anloga, Ho, Ada foah, Accra, Kasoa, Dodowa, Madina, Nsawam, Koforidua, Akim Oda, and their surroundings should take precautionary measures due to the heavy rainfall. However, Cape Coast, Tarkwa, Axim, Takoradi, and their surroundings are at lower risk.
Additionally, rough sea conditions are expected.
