You can even say I am 85, I don’t care – McBrown to critics

Ghanaian actress and TV presenter Nana Ama McBrown has delivered a strong response to those questioning her declared age of 46.

The controversy ignited when veteran actress Pascaline Edwards, in an interview with Pulse Ghana, disclosed her age and voiced frustration about being sidelined by local filmmakers due to ageism.

“I may appear youthful, but they’ve deemed me too old. I’m barely 53, soon to be 54, and I possess more energy and freshness than many younger actors. So, I urge casting directors to reconsider me,” Pascaline expressed.

This revelation sparked speculation about whether Nana Ama McBrown falls in the same age category as Pascaline, casting doubt on McBrown’s claims of being in her forties.

Addressing these speculations head-on, Nana Ama McBrown asserted that she feels no obligation to prove her age to sceptics.

She stated that people are entitled to speculate about her age as they please.

The host of Onua Showtime emphasised her point by highlighting that she had not even started acting when Pascaline was already a celebrated figure in the industry.

“Pascaline was already making waves with films like ‘A Stab in the Back’ while I hadn’t even stepped into the industry. If you want to think of me as an 85-year-old, that’s perfectly fine,” McBrown confidently stated on her Onua TV program.

She concluded by brushing off the impact of these opinions, stating, “Ultimately, these views don’t affect me. They don’t dent my bank balance in the least.”
