Snapchat queen Dulcie Boateng’s ‘Porials Pitch’ partners arrested over breach in health regulations

The N1 Highway in Accra came to a standstill on April 20, 2024, as traffic snarls disrupted the journey from Lapaz to Spintex.

Commuters faced lengthy delays due to heavy gridlock, prompting many to seek alternative routes.

This chaos stemmed from a massive gathering near the Accra Mall for a sales event known as Porials Pitch, organized by social media influencer Dulcie Boateng, renowned as the ‘Queen of Snapchat.’

Despite its success in drawing a large crowd without formal advertising, the event turned contentious.

Authorities intervened due to alleged breaches of health regulations and the sale of unregistered products.

Several organizers, including Dulcie’s partners, were arrested following concerns about the legality of the products sold, such as boric acid suppositories, butt enlargement creams, weight gain syrups, and unapproved soaps.

The accused were taken to the Accra Central Police Station and are expected to face charges related to selling unapproved items and advertising products not endorsed by the FDA.

This development underscores the regulatory challenges facing online influencers venturing into product promotions.
