Ghanaian artist Article Wan, known as Bright Homenyah in professional circles, has recently emphasised the urgent need for substantial investments in the Ghanaian music sector.
The renowned musician expressed his belief that with significant financial backing, Ghana’s music industry could rival the success of Nigeria’s vibrant music scene.
Article Wan highlighted the abundant potential and talent within Ghana’s music scene, underscoring the importance of proper financial support to propel the industry to new heights and enable it to compete globally.
The ‘Solo’ hitmaker asserted that Ghanaian musicians were putting in their best efforts to achieve global recognition, but emphasised the essential role of adequate investments in amplifying their impact.
Commenting on the dominance of Nigerians in the Afrobeats market, Article Wan asserted, “Nigerians are dominating the Afrobeats market, and the truth is that Nigerians have massive investment, which has made their music very loud. We are doing our best, but we don’t have that level of investment.”
He pointed out the challenge faced by many Ghanaian artists who often have to self-fund their activities, making it difficult to compare with countries benefiting from substantial investments.
Article Wan expressed concern for talented artists in Ghana who struggle due to a lack of support, emphasising the necessity of significant investments in the industry.
While acknowledging the contributions of artists like Black Sherif, Fameye, Gyakie, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie in pushing Ghanaian music to the global stage, Article Wan urged for increased investments to propel the industry to even greater heights.
